Hacking your TomTom device

Tested with the Tomtom ONE version 1 and Tomtom ONE XL version 3 devices

Updating the map for free

- Fetch and install TomTome HOME

- Eventually backup your device s content using the application

- Format it s internal memory or SD card as FAT32 and write down its size

- Install the base application and its updates using the application accept to share informations anonymously

On ONE XL there is 6.594 7.162 8.010

- Add one of the official voices available for free,

- Check the application version within the device interface and write it down,

- Check for the latest official map version number

- Look at the compatibility charts at www.navitotal.com for that major map number today mar 2015: v945 and choose the one corresponding to your application version,

. preferably with IQ routes

. otherwise w/o IQ routes and w/o Cspeech

- Download that precise map at or if device is only 1GB large you need your country map or the special 1GB continent maps, extract it to place the map folder at device s root folder

- Download the latest FastActivate at navitotal.com, place it at device s root folder and run it step by step as it advocates down to the Quickfix step

- Now that the map is up and running, disable auto backup in TomTom HOME settings -- advanced tab -- and update your device to get very latests QuickFix GPS optimizations

- Also install danger alerts security camera warnings for the countries of your choosing,

Safely disconnect the device from the computer, you are now ready to hit the road.

Adding POIs security cameras

If you are not satified enought with the built-in service, download additional Points Of Interests of your choosing, for France I prefer gpspassion than tomtomheaven:

- extract 49s__RM_.ZIP and 49s_RF_.ZIP content into the map folder

- use tomtom home manupiler mon tomtom to,

Changing the SD card

For legacy TomTom devices like ONE, if you need to increase the memory size you need a traditional SD card, not SDHC. In other words, max 2GB. See the TomTom SD compatibility list.

Go here: All New Maps 880.XXXX for the latest maps.

Go here: FastActivate 24.11.2011 1.8.8.0 for the latest patcher.

Remove the old map folder. Copy in the new map folder. Run FA to patch the maps.

The navcore is prepatched.

Disconnect reboot.

hi, tendriver, on my pda tomtom it worked fine 850.2820, it didnt recognize the 880, but in the tomtom ONE gps, didnt work, i dont understand why, but is says no map located, i placed iberia 855_2884 and it didnt work. maybe should i reset the gps.

im gonna try the 880 maps.

1. Confirm that you selected a 880 map that is compatible with your pda navcore.

2. No map located normally means that the navcore isn t patched.

You will find several 9.XXX navcores that have been modded to run on 32MB units. Read thru them pick the 1 that seems best for you.
